Since Anand also has a pre-release MB he should be able to play with DDR a lot more than the other sites which only had temporary access to AMD's reference system. Unfortunately, I believe the pre-release board only supported the 100 MHz FSB speed... the question of what happens when a 100 MHz MPU is dropped in with 133 MHz FSB will have to wait a while longer.

Goutama,

I just checked the Micron site, and unfortunately, they don't offer Windows 2000 on for this model. It's strange. Wouldn't you expect this for a top of the line model?

Goutama Re...<<Just looking at both system specs, Micron PC (1.2GHz/PC1600) seems like a great deal (except for the small hard drive, which I believe is not a big deal) when compared to Gateway Select 1100 for the same price.<<<<

Goutama, good news for Amd. I checked back with Micron this morning as they didn't seem to know much yesterday. The sales rep. said that both the 1.2 ghz pc1600 and 1.2 pc2100 were delayed for 45 days because of 1.2 ghz chip shortages, not because of shortages of motherboards or pc 2100 ddr-ram. Which means all of the 1.2 ghz chips must be in short supply. She also said almost all of her calls yesterday were for the AMD computers. She knew nothing about new Microns at Best Buy Sat.

PS I was reading in a book that the bear markets of 1946,1957,1960,1966,1974,1987,1990, and 1998 all ended in October. In addition Nov. Dec. and Jan, are the best 3 month stretch of the year; and may is the best month of the yr.
