Joe W., OT, but not too far. HLIT gets some AT&T money here.....Remember those insider buys that seemed odd after last Q? Maybe this was supposed to happen sooner, but it did happen. What optics slowdown!! Yeah, we hung in there ok and I know you were buying more.

PS Remember that HLIT is a member of Iband....

Press Release

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 2000--Harmonic Inc. (Nasdaq:HLIT - news) today announced that AT&T Broadband will buy optical nodes and DWDM transmission platforms from Harmonic for use in cable plant upgrades throughout the United States.

Harmonic's METROLink DWDM system, PWRBlazer nodes, and digital DWDM return transmitters give AT&T Broadband the ability to serve markets with a range of service requirements.

Harmonic's fiber optic solutions have been used for several years in our broadband infrastructure builds,`` said Jim Wood, vice president of Advanced Technology at AT&T Broadband. ''Harmonic has demonstrated during this period the ability to quickly respond to our requirements.``

``AT&T's networks are truly world-class,'' said Kirk Flatow, president of Harmonic's Broadband Access Networks Division. ``Harmonic is delighted to be a part of AT&T Broadband's ongoing efforts to provide subscribers with state-of-the-art telephony, data and entertainment services. AT&T's networks are a showcase for Harmonic's suite of technologically advanced fiber optic solutions.''

Digital DWDM Return

DWDM return path transmitters provide operators flexible and robust return of data over hybrid fiber coax (HFC) networks. Harmonic's range of return technologies includes broadband digital DWDM, broadband analog DWDM, Coarse WDM and baseband Ethernet with the introduction of the NODEcmts. Harmonic is the first company in the industry to offer digital DWDM return from within an environmentally hardened node.

METROLink DWDM

DWDM optical transmission platforms dramatically increase the downstream and upstream bandwidth capacity of HFC networks for the delivery of services that require two-way communication, such as telephony, high-speed Internet access and video-on-demand. Harmonic's METROLink platform provides bandwidth scalability and flexibility, allowing network operators to cost-effectively implement the high degree of forward and return segmentation required for robust two-way network performance.

PWRBlazer Optical Nodes

Optical nodes provide flexible transport solutions for delivering broadcast and narrowcast services. With a forward-looking design and a suite of return path solutions, the PWRBlazer node family seamlessly accommodates evolving network requirements. Harmonic's optical node platform was designed to enable operators to scale their networks at minimum cost and difficulty.

OT: Viruses

Joe,

Do you run a firewall on a LAN or cable modem of DSL?

Any idea what kind of virus it was?

The reason I ask is that installing a firewall is an eye opener, especially for non e-mail viruses. If you have a lot of data on your computer, your need to pay close attention to security these days.

It is a good idea to go to a secure site that can check you system for security problems and try to configure your PC to be as invisible to the Net as possible.
