Did you see the national spelling bee recently? I was amazed (not exactly correct numbers) that about 40 of the 225 participants were home schooled. Then I was further amazed and shocked to see that the winner, the first runner up and the second runner up were all HOME SCHOOLED. What a statement that commitment to teaching can do. And, it turned out the winner had recently won a national geography contest.

Where does it say they have to go to a church school? We have a number of private schools locally that are not church based.

In White Plains my local school district spends $11,000 per child per year. Giving a parent a $1,000 voucher would save my district $10,000. (that would be a nice tax cut for me)

I could care less where they send their kids as long as the pass the NY State Regents exams.

Vouchers violate the separation of church and state.

I don't agree. The government is not telling the parent where to place the child - rather it is giving the parent the choice of where to educate their child.

Your argument is like saying people on welfare can't give money to a church. Try arguing that one in the courts!

If you'll read the First Amendment, you'll find it protects religion from the government. It doesn't protect government from religion. It doesn't even separate the two. If you don't know where to look, check out your wallet. You'll see what I mean.
