o There are unconfirmed reports that Intel has removed Rambus from part of
its future memory roadmap.

o We believe that Intel will be memory agnostic. Rambus will be in some
boxes but Intel is going to embrace double data rate memory, synchronous memory
and next generation memory being developed by an industry consortium.

o We also believe that moving away from Rambus is good news for Intel. The
company has had concerns about the impact that Rambus availability would have
on the ramp for P4. We believe, in the future, that royalty based memory
models are not going to work.

Jim, re: Opinion: Intel winds down in GHz clock race

Nice to see where Jack Robertson's biases truly lie. That titles alone suggests that Intel has basically given up altogether, when even Mr. Robertson himself says that Intel will catch up in "mainstream desktops" in mid-2001.

Of course, it all depends on what your definition of a "clock race" is.
