At the time they at least pretended. Funny thing was that the SEC didn't do jack shit about it. Now they are getting serious and going after 15 year olds, and they can't even clip them very good. So, no surprise that scamazon goes up on news the SEC thinks they have a few material misrepresentation issues. It is all a joke in the rigged casino.

The difference was that Blodget later openly admitted that his $400 price target for Amazon in December, 1999 was just pulled out of the air.
