Apparently, Bush is ashamed of the Republican Congress. He does not allow himself to be seen with any members of the Republican Congress - not at the Convention and not during the campaign. He does not want to be associated with them. He will go to California and Minnesota to campaign for himself but not for other Republicans. I hear a lot about George W. Bush but I don't hear much about the Republican party. Slade Gorton (R) is in the fight of his life against Maria Cantwell (D) but when Bush comes to Washington, they do not even appear on the same stage. I understand Bush will be in Minnesota today. I do not expect to see him together with Senator Grams who is losing to Dayton (D).

Yes, what sort of a leader could AlGore be if all he can do is attempt to divide the country and scare everyone into their votes???(which is exactly what he is attempting to do this week)

That is not leadership....adn WhopperAl is not a leader.

I agree. Further, Gore's tactic of duping older Floridians into thinking their SS is at stake deeply offends me. I've always thought Florida was a senior-friendly state, and I might like to retire there some day.

If Gore's divisive, hateful, and deceptive message is working there, he must be causing those senior citizens a lot of unnecessary anguish, which they don't deserve in their golden years. They'd probably rather just be left alone to enjoy their retirement, which isn't in jeopardy, despite Gore's misrepresentations.

But the inordinate time Gore is spending there gives the issue exigency, and probably gives him some credibility. They're getting pounded with the same false message, day in, day out. There's an old totalitarian saying: If you repeat the lie often enough, people will believe it.

I wonder whether Bush should re-focus on Florida to counter Gore's attack and set the voters' minds at ease.
