He also said that they will introduce a 2 Ghz P4 in 0.18u in Q3.

Pravin.

1.5 GHz P4 w/ 44% boost in Quake3 over P3...

Hmmm.

From Anandtech, 640 x 480 benches, in FPS:

1.2 Tbird 760 = 170
1 GHz P3 (840) = 144 * 1.44 = 207
1 GHz P3 (815) = 151 * 1.44 = 217

That sounds pretty darn fast... I wonder if that 44% relies on SSE2 optimizations?

RE:"I'm listening to the Intel webcast. Otellini just said that the 1.5 Ghz P4 will provide a 44% performance increase in Quake III Arena over there current fastest Pentium"

I guess no one but Joe, Doug and JC was paying attention.

P4 will showcase SPEC and Quake III...those will be the best benchmarks Intel can come up with...
