EricRR:

By the time, if ever, INTC gets to wherever it's going with their PIV, there is the very distinct possibility (in fact highly probable from my perspective)that whatever is produced by INTC will be significantly lagging in both price and performance (not unlike the current situation pitting "spry Athy" against PWeeiii) when compared to AMD's offering at that time...

As they say "show me the money"...AMD keeps "showing the money" while INTC keeps promising, and without much success over the past 12 months, to do so...Same old Intel song, just a different orchestra!!!

Eric,

They said they will be ramping 0.13u copper in early 2001. Since they don't plan on using it for P4 until Q4, they must want to use all of it for Itanium (where it is sorely needed). They must feel that high clock P4s can fend off Mustang using 0.18u through Q3.

Pravin.

So are we supposed to believe that p3 is going to ship in volumes at 0.13 before that, given that it would be at 1.3GHz and Intel needs a 40% MHz gap between the two to prevent performance overlap? Looks like the whole 0.13 transition has been pushed back.

I think most of the initial .13um production will be for PIII laptops. This will effectively keep AMD out of the mobile sector. AMD will have to do likewise to have any chance in that area.
