Some P4 performance numbers from the CC

P4 will perform MPEG3 compression ~25% faster than Intel's fastest P3 processor

50% faster video encoding

33% faster 3D graphics

44% faster on games such as Quake3 arena

2GHz on the current .18u process later in 2001.

My comment: Imagine what it will do on .13u & copper!!!

Hi Elmer,
Intel's revenue growth figures from the post on the webcast:
10% (old biz rev growth) * 80% (as a % of Intel) = 8% (old biz contribution to total % rev growth)
50% (new biz rev growth) * 20% (as a % of Intel) = 10% (new biz contribution to total % rev growth)
------------------------------------------------------
Total 18% (Intel's Revenue Growth)

So, that's where they get the total "high-teens" from (18% in revenue growth).

However, the high margin products (Xeons which are growing at 80% per your post on the webcast) must be feeding some of Intel's new businesses. At some point, the new businesses will need to turn profitable because their revenue growth is so fast and it makes up the majority of Intel's revenue growth (56% = 10/18).

Wow, the majority (56%) of Intel's revenue growth comes from the new businesses.

However, the desktop market (old business) seems to be a drag on the overall revenue growth. Wonder what that means for AMD?

Regards,
Amy J
