the first logic is OK, but why not just a straight percentage? You benefit more -- you pay more -- your logic hardly justifies progessivity (is that a word :-) )?

skeets, I don't consider it stealing either ... that was just a loose allusion to the fact that Robin Hood didn't agree with regressive taxation either. <g> I agree with all your points (I'm Canadian, after all, a naturalborn socialist ;), but especially the part about choosing your parents well ... I'm forever amazed at how often people seem to overlook this simple truth. mostly b/c of an experience and environment that they didn't chose. I worked these last 25 years as a child/school psychologist ... I don't know anyone even remotely connected with 'the system' who would disagree. Best, Terry
