Hi Howard,

The people downstream of SR along the Russian River do not want Santa Rosa's effluent in the river no matter how well it is treated. It is totally irrational.

Well said, one of the sad facts about the environmental movement in general is that it is faith/fear based and not subject to rational analysis. I like your tomato story. <g>
We Americans are truly squeamish about such subjects. If we examine our agricultural practices they are purely one way in most instances. Extract oil or gas, convert to diesel fuel or fertilizer. Pour on ground. Extract harvest, consume and dump. This can't go on forever. Eventually we'll have to learn something of the Chinese closed-loop system if we hope to perpetuate the system. Your tomato is a great example of doing so.

Re: The heat at the Geysers - I defer to your closer examination of the situation. I was merely recalling some conversations with an engineer/manager in the mid '80's and I'm certain there's been a lot of study of the situation since then. Of the "what went wrong?" variety. <g>

Bon Chance, Ray
