milo:

The Millennia MAX XT...Looks like AMD is real serious about raising the entry level bar to 1 gig this quarter...I thought it would take them 'til Q1, but I'm no longer convinced it will take that long...What's more is there is no real competition anywhere in sight..."That means home, home business, and small business users can have unrivaled desktop performance at an affordable price." DDR memory and "spry Athy" microprocessors, a platform that sets AMD and its customers apart!!!

milo, just got a new PC Connection catalog and it wsa good to see a lot more Athlon and Duron systems in it. Still 80% Intel, but not 100% Intel like it used to be. The 700 MHz Duron systems are listed at $700 for brands like CPQ and a little less for their house brands.

That's a lot more reasonable price than what I saw at CompUSA a couple weeks ago.

PC Connection's own "house" brand goes all the way up to 1.1 GHz. Its obvious from the products advertised that a lot of corporate buyers use their catalog, so AMD must be getting some stealth corporate sales from catalogs like this.

Re: "AMD Athlon™ processors, an AMD 760 chipset with 200MHz front side bus, DDR SDRAM memory"

Why was 200 MHz DDR SDRAM the only option available from MicronPC ?

What happened to 133/266 MHz DDR SDRAM ?
