Molasses, apparently. One thing I was remembering is that drinking too much Barbancourt pretty much guarantees a hangover, much like drinking cognac, or those small batch bourbons. Delicious flavor from all the aromatics means lots of esters and aldehydes, hard on the system.

Edit: I don't see Barbancourt on the list, not sure if that means the tasters didn't like it or they didn't try it. I was turned on to it by a friend who tried it in Haiti and brought me back a bottle. I really like cognac, especially Fine Champagne* cognac, and Barbancourt has the same aromatic type of flavor. Maybe it just doesn't have a mainstream appeal.

*Fine Champagne cognac is a region, not a brand, like Burgundy wine is a region, not a brand.

<<1992 marked the third anniversary of our Caribbean Week Rum Taste Test. There were just 4 judges who sampled 58 brands in three categories>>

May we assume that there were no updates after 1992 because the 4 judges had all expired from terminal cirrhosis?<G>

A very nice site!
