"Tax and spend" has become a tired old cliche. It isn't campaign rhetoric that the debt (the Reagan-Bush debt, by the way) has begun to be retired under Clinton-Gore. If we have an opportunity to do anything with the prosperity we have achieved while Clinton was president, it is to work on that debt, not give away much more money to those who need it the least.

Are you better off now, despite the taxes you pay, than you were eight years ago. If your not, you should get out of the market.
