I think you are right about how people view the two, ie, Gore a bully and Bush a nice guy. However, there are a lot of people that view the government as the solver of their problems and honestly think Gore has their best interests in mind (and I've got a bridge you might be interested in). It is not unlike how people view their union - "hey they fight for ME and the company is out to screw me". In actuality, the Democratic party is simply a big union for people who aren't willing to trust themselves to make it happen for themselves....and there's a ton of them in America.

"ability to make mistakes and admit them" I think you inadvertantly left out part of your sentence "...after hiding the fact for more than 20 years, and being caught." By the way, did you know that if you apply for a Federal Government job, part of the form asks if you have ever been convicted of an offense? And also if you have used drugs or alcohol to excess? Wonder how he was planning to fill that in?
