How are you going to spend Tuesday night? Will you celebrate the election of an honest man? One many call a breath of fresh air when contrasted with the low and dirty prior 8 years of lies, misdeeds and mistrust.

Dear nihil: Your comments as to Bush convictions are OUTRAGEOUS. Two of the three relate to college pranks and the third is so minor AT THE TIME as to be trivial. I would remind you that .10 on the scale is something like 3 beers.
Now, as to Social Security, the Govt has pulled a FAST ONE on us. I remember when I was told SS is an INSURANCE TRUST for me personally. (when I say me I mean each individual) It was not considered something like welfare but a FUND into which we put our money and expect to get a pension out of it. Over the years the Govt has STOLEN THAT MONEY and put it into the General Fund. Now those people feel that SS is no longer an INSURANCE policy but a BENEFIT for the retirees. I believe Bush was attempting, which seems impossible to do in a sound bite, to explain this. Those of us over 50 probably understand what he meant, you younger people, never did know the ORIGINAL purpose of SS. I can tell you all this: I would gladly take the money I PUT INTO THE FUND along with a reasonable return over the years and they can forget about my BENEFIT. Sadly, that isnt going to happen. But for those of you just starting out or under say 30, I cant believe you wouldnt JUMP at the opportunity to have YOUR SS. in YOUR name and outside of the clutches of the Govt. JDN
