Why do you think Clinton picked him?
Same reason Gore picked Leiberman.
Because he has no skeletons in his closet, volunteered for Nam infantry, has loved the same woman for 30 years and is a model citizen, other than the fact that he is a politician of course. Al's only problem is that he's a little stiff. But that is called substance too. Not trying to be your favorite frat boy at the beer-fest.
