No, the Rosenthal photo did not catch a re-enactment, but it was a photo of the second American flag to go up on Surabachi. The first flag was small, and the Marines wanted to have one that everybody on the whole island could see.

The Marines demanded the reenactment and Rosethal went along. The original Marines did the deed several hours before. Please don't call them soldiers.
