JDN, thank you for the fuzzymath.com compliments! A very interesting point for me is that Gore offers almost nothing to the genuine poor in his plan. He leaves the child credit unchanged, Bush doubles it. Gore leaves the bottom tax rate at 15%, Bush drops it to 10%.

Fees of course are the most regressive tax possible, taking the highest percent of income from those who have the least income. The poor are not a major center of interest for Democrats today. They take their votes for granted. Bush made inroads with the poor, with Hispanic immigrants for example, in Texas. The Bush plan gives poor parents more money they can use for trying to give their kids a decent life. And Bush wants poor parents to be able to select the school their kids attend. This is very meaningful to me. The Democrats have abandoned the poor, in my opinion. Bush extends a helping hand -- and if he becomes president, that extended hand will be recognized eventually.
