Thanks for taking the time to report on the areas in which you had difficulties installing Windows 2000. Reports like yours greatly enhance the value of the Dream Machine Thread.

moving sphere, congrats on figuring everything out and getting your system stable -- reminds me of the marathon efforts I used to go through (I'm planning on upgrading next in 2010). Nowadays if my computer doesn't like me doing something I just don't do it <g>. And like others have said, it's good to hear what sort of hoops you had to jump through, just in case I get the urge -- thanks for your effort. If it had been me, I would not have copied everything to the new drive and installed on the old -- I would have removed the old one with everything still on it, installed the new one and gotten win2k, etc. loaded onto it, and then when it wouldn't work with AOL I would have removed it and re-installed the old drive to download the AOL update. Then, switch the old drive to the slave spot and re-install the new drive with win2k on it as the master. Then you could simply transfer disk-to-disk the stuff that you downloaded and install it into win2k. Hope this makes sense. I'm not clear on whether you were eventually able to get all of your old video cards to work with win2k? wily
