Actually here is a better chart over a longer term (^TWII vs. ^SOXX)...seems to point to a financial collapse in asia related to semis (98)...later followed by strong semi profits...later followed by another collapse...(followed by another series of strong profits?)

I think the correction on the equipment side is justified and probably there is still some more to go. On the chip side too the correction is justified - not because it is the top of the cycle but because valuations were out of line. SOme companies still have absurd valuations.

I agree with the SIA part but I am not sure why Intel's assurance is meaningful! 10% growth in core business and 50% growth in other businesses, financed by acquisitions, does not justify current Intel valuation.

One thing to watch - The SIA guys might bw the last to see a real correction!
