Hello E
I posted the 2001 article because of the cognitive dissonance thing that you mentioned, I thought it was interesting and well thought out. If it's fair to raise it in regards to "believers" then I think it's fair to point out that it works the other way around as well. Remove the unpalatable implications and it becomes a no brainer. You are of course right that design does not prove the biblical God, but it is at least consistent with an intelligent, creative source. Same thing with the first cause argument, and the argument from ontology. Thank you for being nervous. I ran across this from Pascal last night and I thought it was fitting to our discussion.

"it is false piety to preserve peace at the expense of truth. It is also false zeal to preserve truth at the expense of charity."
Paul says we are to "speak the truth in love"
Have a good day
Greg

Mark 15:25 "And it was the third hour, and they crucified him."

vs.

John 19:14-15 "And about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! But
they cried out . . . crucify him."

Answer: Remember that they did not have watches strapped to their wrists in those days.

This is actually quite a funny web site! Don't forget to click onto page two, too. Ahhh! I'm so cynical!
