There is no doubt that some regulation is good, and that big business left alone would tend to abuse society's interests.

I think that it is overly assumed that GWB would be missing in action when it came to appropriate government regulation.

There are ways to reform tort laws while still protecting the consumer. I have heard many of our leftist friends on this board decry at tax cut for "the wealthiest 1% of our nation". (This by the way is misleading, since our tax laws
do not differentiate between "wealth" and "income".) However, I heard no outrage at the exorbitant fees raked in by the trial attorneys in the tobacco settlement. Now that was obscene!
