Ben,

<< If this deadline is met, that would place the process around 7 weeks behind ideal schedule, making revised approval date for Standard July, 2001 - with production quantities of chipsets available mid-2002?? >>

That sounds somewhat realistic to me.

The May to July target will complete phase one of cdma2000 standardization. Target for completion of phase one for UMTS (Release 2000) is beginning of Q2 2001 so far as I know so that makes for roughly equal parity.

BTW: As you may know, 3GPP guidelines for UMTS, budget 2 full yars from completion of each phase of the standard to commercial launch. Hopefully leadtime is shorter on the cdma2000 side of 3G3. I'm curious to see when the MSM5105 ships, as that should be reflective of the IS-2000 standard approved last April.

In this case, I am delighted to see one more milestone (and a big one at that) out of the way).
