It might be easy to totally agree, however it has been almost 50 years since there was any duality for the Republican party encompassing both the WH & Congress. I can't say I am all that pleased with the financial results provided by consistent Democratic control in one form or another. Deficit spending has been a constant theme and any honest person would have to agree that never reversed until Republicans gained control of both Houses. From any prudent person's perspective, that's a scathing indictment of Democratic spending habits. Certainly we have had Republican presidents over those years but it is the Congress that spends the money and with the lone exception of the last eight years it has always been in Democratic control. Is it a coincidence that these last eight years were the only ones to see prudence return to the budget? I think not.

If it might be argued that it was simply a twist of fate and massive spending just happened to have been required at a time when Democrats had stewardship and it might fly. I hardly think that the case.
