Gore took the popular vote, idiot. What do you mean the people spoke and picked Bush? Maybe some people. A little less than half. Every single Florida vote will be scrutinized now and this could last for days or weeks. Also remember that electors are allowed to bolt their parties and cross over. The only excuse they would have is if the loser won the popular vote. And that has actually happened.

As much as I wanted Gore to win, I can't support wilfully ignoring the electoral college. FYI, NBC reported the last attempt at EC reform was proposed by Dem Birch Bayh and Republicans opposed any such reform at the time. No doubt such calls for reform will be revived but I do not support it. BTW, the air on this thread is clean again, only civilized Dems and Reps left to discuss without partisan rabidity...kudos to SI for the Ignore button, a/k/a on this thread as "Jingo-B-Gon" VBG
