Actually, the case has merit and I would think that in the case of a few votes swing to determine who the leader of our nation will be, well worth a recast of votes.

Has anyone mentioned if during the day as these people were confused they reported it to the poll watchers? If they did, did the poll watchers call in the concern to the supervisor of elections? I would think if people were voicing a complaint, the supervisor would have people there specifically to say, "Be careful how you mark these ballots. Make sure you pick the hole next to the arrow for the person you want."

You know, I could live with Gore as President so I'm trying to be unbiased. But, this lawsuit ain't goin' nowhere. Can you imagine the precedent, anytime anyone doesn't like the outcome all they have to do is claim that they punched the wrong spot. I have no doubt that an individual has to take responsibility for what they punch out on their ballot.

"Palm Beach County, Fla. Residents File Suit For Revote"

I temporarily break from my SI boycott (which is clearly bringing SI to its knees) to comment on this.

If the recount does not change the outcome, Gore must concede without any legal action being initiated.

I don't like the idea of Smirk in the White House anymore than other Democrats do, but Gore must do what is in the best interests of the United States, and what is in the best interests of the United States is to resolve this issue without legal action or re-voting.

Otherwise, every Presidential election in the future will be subject to similar actions or demands for re-voting.

This would be detrimental to our faith in the legitimacy of the electoral process, and it will also ensure that every President-Elect enters office with a tarnished halo (which will be detrimental to our government's ability to govern).

True, Gore won the popular vote, but by such a small margin that it is almost a coin flip. If the recount shows Bush won Florida, then I believe that Gore should concede, offer the Cocaine Cowboy his hearty congratulations, and urge all parties to desist from legal actions contesting the election.

We just got done with a Presidency mired in endless litigation, and the American people are sick and tired of it.
