oh, you're welcome. i'm sorry i didn't get back to you quicker, but i saw that some other folks were responding and besides, i use symantec monitors on my desktop to keep track of a lot of that stuff you were asking about. i keep about 10 little postage stamp size 'doctors' sitting there showing me mem load and user free resources and defrag rate and like that. i have 'em all reduced to about the total size of a business card, and i just glance at them like an instrument panel from time to time. i'm one of those few who love norton software components! <g>

i'm sure you've run the win2000 readiness analyzer. that pretty much tells you what you're going to need in the way of drivers and software upgrades. i'm hoping service pack 1 helps out there. but i have the stuff i'll need, or at least some of the stuff.

i'll be doing a fresh install on an empty partition. you'll be doing an upgrade from w98, right? and i agree, w98se has been pretty good for me. i'm not getting rid of it by any means.
