Dave, that may not be true. The reform party got over 6K votes in Palm Beach in the last election. And Buchannan's cousin lives there and has been extremely active.

Source: Hell, I haven't a clue now.....:)

As for the nullified ballots in Palm Beach county, I haven't heard any indication of who they voted for, so your assumption that they all voted for both Gore and Buchanan requires a tremendous leap of faith. Secondly, everyone knows or should know that you can't vote for more than one person, so I can't see how this is an issue. Arguments that they accidently voted for the wrong person I might believe, but not arguments that the design of the ballot confused them into thinking that it was OK to vote for multiple people in the same race.

Also the percentage of votes in many other counties in Florida for Buchanan were in the .4-.6% range, and some were higher. I agree that Palm Beach county seems a bit high at .8%, but I don't know Florida politics so I can't comment on whether or not it could have happened. Even at .8% Palm Beach county is not nearly the highest for Buchanan as there were some counties over 1%.

As for the legality of the layout, everything I have heard is that the layout was legal, was designed by a democrat, and was approved in advance by all parties.

Carl

It had been posted earlier that Buchanan had garnered more than 8,000 votes from this county in the last election. So what's special about 3,000 except that Buchanan has lost popularity.
