But neither Bush Sr. nor Dole got more votes than Clinton, did they, Joe? Looks like Gore got more votes than W. You have to go back to Rutherford B. Hayes to match W's mandate without a plurality.

I totally fail to understand the excitement and
naivity around this issue. Radio is tired to
repeat that "it is a serious business".
If it is so serious, is not it entirely
impossible, given unfounded "slow" arrival
of vote counts from the late half of precincts
(and when it become clear that Gore is going to
win Florida), that the ballot boxes may be
"corrected" by supervising party sergeants?
Now it does not matter how count or re-count
the ballots.

Joe, <florida_recount> again: I just noticed that the
"disputed" ballot (with intertwined punch holes)
belongs to the county with very high number of
voters: 259,000 for Gore, and 152,000 for Bush.
The number of confused voters may be quite
significant for the overall result.
