>> Just kidding. But this is where virtual communities are headed. My server, my box, my web site. <<

It would be nice if somebody could put all the packages together. A one stop Community Builder package.

I would want

- email support (including wireless)
- web development tools
- Audio/Video server
- Bulletin/Message board support. Something like "Ultimate Bulletin Board". If you haven't seen an example goto www.corvetteforum.com. Allows posters to post JPEG files.
- Chat
- IRC
- ECommerce, i.e. be able to securely sell products.

Maybe somebody has put it all together and I just don't know about it. If I was Novell I would keep ICS, EDirectory, dump everything else and do above.

Jimmy

When you get the hardware to do this, let me know - I wouldn't mind setting up something for you that has a built-in webserver, newsgroups, multimedia streaming, an LDAP compliant Directory, file sharing (FTP) and more....

Oh yeah..that's NetWare 5.1 -

You've seen Novell's Internet Messaging Server right? You can check out www.myrealbox.com for a live version of it. It's not bad.

Then maybe Scott could help with the Peer-to-Peer stuff you want to do. I hear he has some interesting stuff working at home....but he's rather keeping that to him self right now ;)
