Paul - I have to remind you and the rest of us that 20% of this company is not going to be held by Novell. Doesn't anyone care who has the remaining 20%? I think it's more important to Wall Street than the fact that Novell is spinning this division off!

Speculation on who that might be is fun - I'd rather get some hard information before plunking down some more $$ on this gamble.

The grapevine says it's a big name player but that same grapevine thinks they saw smoke on the Grassy Knoll! :)

I think that information will lend immediate credibility to this move for Wall Street. A player such as Akamai or Deusche Telkom or Lucent(?) or .....

I don't think it's Cisco since they are still very much involved with MSFT and they are building a network to challenge Akamai (who Novell has a relationship with). Sorry for the speculation....

Regards,
Peter J Strifas

I made a prediction, privately, to one of the regular posters here that the ultimate sign of impending doom for NOVL would be a major divestiture. In April.

We have a major divestiture.

The Netware franchise is by no means strengthened here. NOVL is simply auctioning off the only piece of their business that is really worth anything. This is a classic set up for an acquisition candidate.

Doubt that? NOVL has been trading close to cash for awhile. Take away the valuation (unknown) for Volera (probably hoping it will comparable to CFLO, more likely comparable to ISLD) and what are you left with back at the ranch? Not much.

Further, I do not believe the royalty model is the more profitable one for ICS.

On another note: I have invited Novell reps out to visit with the CIO of my new company several times. No takers. Crazy.
