However, allowing the Dem precincts to vote for two or three hours longer helped tilt the popular vote and likely impacted the vote for Senator.the Gore campaign will finally drop their claims - but only after they've twisted the de-legitimization knife as Bush's midsection for a while longer. More like twisting the knife in the mid section of this country, typical for Democrat politicians to put their personal and party's agendas before the country.Still, contrary to popular perception, he doesn't really "want it" for himself so deeply, and it's entirely within his character and profile to offer up an act of apparent self-sacrifice. I think it is apparent he wants the Presidency and wants it badly. He has been working toward the Presidency since his early decision to run for political office. It has been both his Dad's dream and his own. And frankly, I don't think much of his character. I paint him with the same brush as I do Clinton using two stokes for Clinton. Self-sacrifice is not an attribute I would associate with Al Gore. Rep. Wexler claims that the figures the Bush campaign has been putting out about rejected ballots and so on are inaccurate. Wexler is Jesse Jackson in another color. Both are unfazed by logic, facts and reality. They both have their agendas and that is all that matters.they have every right and arguably even an obligation to press their case as strongly as they can. From the D point of view, weakening Bush as much as possible is a valid goal: It's their job to make sure no one has any doubts about just how weak his mandate is. Could be very important when the rubber hits the road on policy controversies later on. Typical Democrat ideology, to hell with the country, press on with the agenda.considering the personal slant of the Bush campaign against him Stated as if Gore has not run a personal campaign against Bush. Not to mention allowing his people to infer Nader is gay, dirty tactics have been used at every opportunity by Gore and his staff... I stated a few weeks ago, I have mixed emotions about Bush winning this election. It would only be fitting that the Democrats be in office when their mismanagement of this country finally hits the fan. Instead, usually a Republican is voted in to rescue the nation. Given the current state of the military, I would be surprised if they garner more than one percent of the votes from current military personnel. It is standard practice over the entire country for all ballots with multiple choices for a single political position to be rejected. In 96 ballots in the hundreds of thousands were rejected over the entire country for this. Palm Beach County has a history of double punching. If the ballot is a problem change it before the next election. I suspect no matter what they do with the ballot, in the year 2004 double punching will still be a problem in Palm Beach. I shutter at the thought, that those Palm Beach zombies that can't figure out a simple ballot would be allowed a re-vote, which would determine for the country who is going to be President. If one precinct is allowed to re-vote the entire country should re-vote. Once the recount is final, who ever looses should insist that all protest and law suits stop, for the good of the country, to hell with party agendas. If any voting reform or ballot improvements are needed it should be done before the next election not retroactively. Regards, LG
