OT: Nobody seems to be asking how Gore could come up with a net gain of 1454 votes through a recount. Were these just normal mistakes? Maybe it happens all the time. We might not care if the election weren't so close, but Bush appears to have lost over 80% of his lead. Will the hand count reveal even more discrepancies? It has happened in the past. Check out the link below.

Juli:

Another interesting point is the fact that the individual currently behind in the popular vote and the electoral college count is claiming victory.

Think about this. The company that provides projections and is very accurate in its calls found that the Tampa exit polls provided a significant edge for "lockbox." However, the "actual recorded vote count" in the Tampa did not.

This will all end when the absentee ballots are collected and counted for Florida. If they are from military staff, the shrub will maintain the lead in Florida; if they are from Israel, lockbox will win. It will be an opportunity for a dignified exit for either candidate. They will both recognize it. Perhaps President Peanutman and President Ford, who are both friends now, will explain this to the shrub and lockbox.

On the other hand, and probably more interesting, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, acting as an independent party leader, can summon the shrub and lockbox to a steel cage match (I forgot the exact name). The Body could be the impartial referee and the shrub and lockbox could go at it. I think it would be helpful for both combatants to lump each other up a bit. Then maybe they can bond and be friends.

Of course, we would need a preliminary bout between Mr. "Corvair" Nader, who would be in green tights, and Mr. "he probably got some of my votes" Buchanan. I think Buchanan could give Corvair a good beating. Besides, he would surely fight dirty.

Of the errors, 600 were made in Palm Beach Country. Surely you don't suggest that the county officials who do the count (who probably are dems) made the errors in Bush's favor. Stop wearing your partisan hat and ask yourself if you would support Gore if he goes the legal route.
