How do the Rydex numbers confirm this? They still look bullish to me. I guess what you mean is that an external event can superseed contrarian psycology. If there is too much fear in the general levels of the market, that translates into a market opportunity since most of the selling is done. One the other hand, if there is an external event, it brings out more than your normal players and their selling must end before a rally can begin. Those would be your normal "buy and hold" people. I'd be careful and wait for a momentum confirmation before getting too bullish in this environment.
