rli123, Even though it is 10 years old, the specific chemistries and architectures based on the Bellcore process have continued to evolve, hence the stream of patents. Valence, according to Lev, was issued the patent for Manganese spinel only "weeks ago". I know of nothing to replace or replicate the Valence plastic battery and by all accounts, this is where the industry needs to go. The fact that Valence is the first to market with the process, however tentative this beginning, should not be taken as a negative, quite the opposite. They are first because they took early initiative. Others, whom had vested interest in older technology were slow to arrive and immediately had problems in catch up and faced the problem of working around some of Valence's patents. Now, it appears the synergism of the Bellcore process with Valence's "enabling technology" has resulted in serious leverage in an evolving industry in which there is no known viable alternative.
