That's exactly what I said. If a loser of the popular vote who wins the electoral vote instructs his electors to vote for the other guy, then we very possibly will have established a de facto presidency by popular vote, without the need for an amendment and without abolishing the Electoral College, which may be useful for the primaries. Just like George Washington established a de facto two year term limit for the presidency.
