Theory of Relativity...

Relative motherboard pricing has A LOT to say on relative processor pricing...

Don't you think that situation is changing as Athy's take market share? Economies of scale and greater competition will bring down mobo and chipset prices. In the end share drives prices here. This differential will only widen as AMD grabs share. The real threat is to Intel's margins in 2001. Why is Dell warning? Is the Intel only strategy starting to hurt them?

fyodor:

Thanks. Good info. Need to get those board costs down. Oh well RMBS costs will soon have to be factored in won't they, that is, assuming P4 sees the light of day as far as retail quantities are concerned!

fyo, your prices are WAAAY out of date. I can buy 900 MHz Tbird+KT7RAID+fan for $335. Thats nearly $100 cheaper than the P3-850 combo you list.
