Press Release
Ciprico Announces Fourth Quarter and Year-End Results
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2000--Ciprico Inc. (Nasdaq:CPCI - news) today announced results for the fourth quarter and year ended September 30, 2000. Sales for the quarter were $8.4 million versus $8.6 million for the prior year's quarter, a decrease of 1.5%. The Company recorded a net loss for the quarter of ($522,000), or ($.10) per share, as compared to net income of $588,000 or $.12 cents per share for the same period last year.

For the year ended September 30, 2000, sales of $33.2 million were down 2.5% compared to $34.1 million in 1999. The net loss for 2000 was ($309,000) or ($.06) per share, compared to net income of $2,056,000 or $.41 per share fully diluted for 1999.

``We are disappointed in our financial results for fiscal 2000'', said Ciprico President and CEO, Robert H. Kill. ``Revenues were adversely impacted by slower than expected ramp up of new broadcast OEM business and delays in the release of our FibreSTORE RAID product. This product, in addition to our new NETarray product, addresses the competitive impact we have seen in certain applications within our traditional high bandwidth RAID 3 markets. Our sales, marketing and engineering teams were expanded during fiscal 2000 to lay the groundwork for several new developments we are now pursuing. We are focusing our efforts on enhancing the value of our product offering through software and services to create more comprehensive storage solutions. Fiscal 2001 will be a year of added investment through increased spending in R&D and marketing to accelerate our development efforts.''

Kill went on to say ``We are excited about the future at Ciprico. This past year we established broader visual storage solutions, including value-added Professional Services. We established our Professional Services group around the benefits to customers deploying high performance Storage Area Networks (SANs). These SAN services will provide both growth and added margin to our core business. In addition, we successfully launched our NETarray product. One of the first NETarray applications is a major design win with a new OEM broadcast server customer.''

I hope that there are others interested in the end to end 2G line.

Scheduled for release to OEMs in Q4 2000, Prisa Networks is demonstrating its VisualSAN Network Manager (NM) software for managing heterogeneous storage area networks (SANs). The Java-based Visual SAN NM provides for service-level management of SAN fabrics through graphical visualization of SAN devices and their interconnects, along with real-time alerting. The demonstration features automatic discovery and polling of devices, a visual map of the storage network representing all devices and interconnections and their active state, event correlation and alert actions. Additionally, VisualSAN NM logs events and generates alerts notifying the system administrator, via e-mail, page or SNMP trap-to-fault conditions.

Staying tuned in MI.
