Pomp,

Definitely could happen that way. Sometime in the next 10 years or so someone is really going to pay the piper when the boomers start taking their winnings out of the market to ensure that they're still there for retirement. I don't think that'll happen in the next four years, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to be the president who picks up the slot after that.

The Demos might want to wait until the really big crash to take back the gov't. Then they could "save" the country with tons of new programs (call it the New Deal, or something like that <G>).

Dave

p.s. Politically speaking, this millenium is certainly off to an auspicious start!

Does anybody but me think that our lame-duck President ought to get on the horn to his veep and tell him that he is pushing the country into a crisis by trying to resolve the election in the courts rather than in the ballot box.

He ought to tell him to concede if FL certifies that Bush got more votes than he did. He can always run again in four years. If he pushes this to the wall and ultimately loses anyway, he will be a sorry soul and won't have a political future.

But will BC do this?

His previous record on putting the country through the legal mill makes this scenario not very likely.

I also have my doubts that Gore cares more about the country than he does about winning. The chase through the courts looking for technicalities to reverse the loss in FL is yet another example of the extent to which the liberals of this country will go to try to get their way.

This time we are all watching closely.

Barry
