Gary,

I don't know the circumstances around Daley's claim of an illegal ballot. I was just pointing out that he did not claim the ballot was fraudulent.

Hi Gary, RE: "is this technicality ? As an outsider"

It's serious enough that the circuit court ruled the State of Florida cannot certify the votes in PB until after a hearing (which is to be held on Tue). However, it is not serious enough that it is considered fraud (which is good -- I think if fraud were detected, this would undermine our country, which we don't want to have happen, regardless of the Party).

A friend of mine (the one who ran some local polls awhile ago) said it's a given (i.e. actually known in advance by both Parties) that the second-located candidate will get some of the votes from the third-located candidate in the butterfly ballot. This really isn't a big deal and experts know it's a small percentage - so it is always ignored. The only time it matters is when an election is as close as this one - I don't recall an election ever being as close as this one was, ever in history.

Btw, I haven't expressed my opinion on whether or not they should do a revote. I have concerns on both sides of the equation (there are people who wanted to vote for Gore vs. undermining the country with a legal battle).

The bottom line is: fix the system for next time and make sure the ballots are better constructed (by making all names vertically aligned). However, how much would this polling equipment upgrade cost to tax payers? (And I wonder whose chips the ballot machine counters use? Is this a new market opp? <G>)

Which country are you residing?

Regards,
Amy J
