I agree that after the votes are recounted the vote should be certified and we should move one before the country becomes totally divided against itself. I hope that Gore after thinking it over for the weekend issues a statement that he will honor the final vote tally, whatever it is, and that litigation is not in the best interests of the country.

FWIW, my wife and I talked for a bit about what would happen if the Florida vote still hasn't been certified due to ongoing legal wrangling when the time comes for the Electoral college to meet. Both of us are attorneys, though neither a specialist in constitutional law. We think that with the Florida vote enjoined, the rest of the electoral college would meet on schedule, and they could vote. When no one received 270 votes, which no one would, the issue would move to congress. As I recall, each state delegation gets one vote, so Nevada and California each have the same vote, but I sure don't remember for sure. Not a pretty way of determining a President.
