Conceptually this would appear to be a superior solution for broadband access than cable. I've been following Nokia attentively for five years and I've never given this product any thought before. At&T's strategy in the mid-nineties was to use fixed wireless technologies on a residential basis to be able bypass the RBOC's wireline networks and thus access fees. I haven't heard about that initiative in a long time and don't know whatever has happened to it. From what Nokia's website says, their fixed wireless broadband products appear to aimed at the corporate market. It doesn't say anything about residential, but I would be interested to know if anyone knows otherwise.
