>> it doesn't make me wonder that these people don't know whom they're voting for. Voting places can be intimidating and pressure filled. Asking for help can be very embarrassing, especially for old people who have to fight the stereotype that they are unable to help themselves

Mom's polling place in West Palm Beach was right in her retirement community, at the rec center. The people running the polls were fellow residents. There was no time limit posted, implied or enforced, and plenty of friendly folks to help explain things. It was as much a social event as a political exercise. On the other side of the country, in Silicon Valley, I was voting at a polling place in someone's garage. Once again, friendly locals and no pressure. I get the same story from friends all over the country.

Someone has spun an image of polling places as pressure filled, and manned by heartless bureaucrats. I wonder who that might be?

My response is that "vote" is a verb, requiring a completed act to manifest one's intention. 450,000 voters in PBC "got it" and manifested their intent by completing that simple act.

Presumably, 100,000,000 Americans nationwide manifested the "act" of voting. Are 50,000,000 of those American voters to be disenfranchised because a few in PBC failed to act?
