UF, I would hope that through all of this, the end result is a certified election, deemed to be fair and accurate by all concerned. I consider this to be most important, and which candidate is elected to be secondary.

Sure would be good to get it done sooner than later, though it's looking ugly right now. But, I have a feeling that should the FL courts make a ruling, this will create incredible pressure on the losing side to concede. I hope that whomever it is, that they end it.

uf: Thanks for sharing the feedback on voting in FL and CA....Out here in Chicago folks were very helpful and our punchcards worked quite well...;-)

The market sure hates uncertainty....why don't the campaign teams act like grown ups and accept the final audited vote count (after all the overseas ballots are in next week)....Lets keep the lawyers and spin doctors out of this. After all, the United States is supposed to set an example about how democracy should work <VBG>.

Best Regards,

Scott

<<Someone has spun an image of polling places as pressure filled, and manned by heartless bureaucrats>>

UF, I've voted in 7 presidential elections, in 4 different states in the Southeast, North and West. I've had the same impression you do, polling personnel have been uniformly pleasant and generally helpful. I have no doubt that it will be spun otherwise by those hoping to subvert the process, however....

In my precinct, in Virginia, the folks in the polling place were very helpful. Even though we have easy-to-follow electronic voting machines, they asked me if I needed help, if I understood how to use the machine, etc.

The voter in front of me was in a wheelchair, and I was surprised to see that the election worker was able to lower the entire machine to his eye level.

My precinct went Democratic, as it always does. Although I vote Republican, I would never think to question the integrity of the voting process, or to respect the will of the people.
