Wayne, It is a law that it can be requested.

I agree about the death bed bit. That was pretty bad. As for the sighing, I do that all the time and it irritates the hell out of my loved ones. <g>

I don't even believe in "Get Out The Vote" campaigns. If you don't care enough to vote, then who needs your vote? I do think the place, time, etc. ought to be well-publicized and that the ballot should be user friendly. I also think we should have curtains on our polling booths, which we haven't had in Texas since I've been here. Kind of makes it risky to change your vote if the guy who bought it is in the building. <g>

Anyone who hands out cigarettes for anything is sleaze, in my book. Bush is the friend of big tobacco, big oil, big pollution, but Gore is supposed to be above that. In the end, he may be no better than Bush as far as ethics go.

I have long believed that if I were the only guy who voted, this would be a much better world. For me. <g> I do think the place, time, etc. ought to be well-publicized and that the ballot should be user friendly. wayne, al gore is a hack. i was half waiting for him to grab tipper's *ss and tongue her if he felt he needed the pervert vote to win the election. -ng-

the hand count as proposed by gore is absurd. but, then, that is to be expected.

the demos cried about wanting the true wishes of floridians... so they hand count counties w/ a 9-1 gore advantage.

situational ethics at its best. these guys are complete hacks - but i can't see anybody being worse than gore. he is a poor man's bill clinton. selfish as h*ll, no controlling authority impacts him, etc. problem is, he's transparent w/ no personality. at least bill makes people feel good (though i think it's called manipulation, but to each his/her own).

wayne, i noticed the following in this article:

msnbc.com

1. "Bush camp tries to block recount" not even. they are trying to halt a selective hand count of ballots. they supported the recount. misleading? absolutely. inept or agenda based, you decide...
2. they rail again gwb b/c he insisted this should stay out of court and then filed a lawsuit.
3. not once do they discuss why gwb filed the lawsuit - b/c the gore campaign only requested hand counts in hugely democratic counties.
4. "“This is not about sore losers,” Democratic vice presidential candidate Joseph Lieberman said Friday as he urged patience on all sides. “This is about the fundamental principles of our democracy.”

don't the fundamentals of democracy dictate you don't rig a hand count," mr lieberman? i guess you define democracy rather selfishly, don't you? i thought you were supposed to be above political hackdom. guess that was expecting too much.

me thinks douth do protest too much!

5. "Meanwhile, in Duval County, a heavily Republican area of the state, election officials said Saturday that about 26,000 votes were disqualified and never counted when voters punched more than one candidate on their ballot or failed to vote for president. Bush carried Duval County by more than 44,000 votes out of 291,626 votes cast. So far, no recount request is pending."

what? why aren't the demicans outraged about this travesty of justice? after all, they are worried about DEMOCRACY and not their own *SS, right? the 26k make 19k seem small in comparison, huh?

please don't construe this as support for republicrats. i do have to say, though, in the battle for getting right next to the tidy bowl man, nobody is as successful as al gore/bill clinton and their boys and girls.

this scenario is just like what occurred with ss. these clowns, especially gore, will drag this company down in pursuit of his own ego and desire for power. and he won't care.
