Niceguy, Re: Where can one get one and when can it be delivered...

Here:

pricewatch.com

There are already as many vendors selling 1.5 GHz P4 parts than 1.2 GHz Athlon parts (minus one).

I would have assumed that AMD, and Mr. Meyer in particular, would want to be first in line to put this product through its paces!!!

Of course Meyers had already production silicon of P4 in his hands but he can't "admit" that in public. The problem is not that P4 is outperforming Athlon (it's not, except some games and heavily bandwidth dependent applications) but that it has a wide MHz lead. Intel will have the MHz speed crown for the forseeable future because of that and for many customers this is the only "benchmark" for CPU performance (plus the good brand). AMD will still be very competitive but the perception in the public will change. After the brillant execution after the Athlon launch we hade some serious misteps in the last few weeks (paper launching DDR systems, many delays, a cancellation etc.).

Not much of an AMD presence in this Sunday's sales
circulars.

The local Circuit City and Comp USA have 1 AMD system advertised between the two of them. A 900MHz Compaq at CC.
Every page you look at all you see is Intel inside. There's
more ad space devoted to friggin Apples.

Even if, a big if, AMD was sold out for the Qtr they need to do a better job of branding. 1 system compared to a dozen Intel Inside logo's doesn't cut it. Credit to Dave who has been going off on this for months now.
