<The fact is that EVERYONE in Palm Beach was mailed a SAMPLE BALLOT WHICH THEY WERE PERMITTED TO FILL OUT AND CARRY WITH THEM INTO THE VOTING BOOTH.> like we really pay attention to that mail. Also,i am hearing, unconfirmed, that the mailed out ballot does not match the ballot that people were confronted with---the alignment is askew----i still see arguments against Palm Beach rights as just squibbling against the fact that Palm Beach ballot was a major screw-up,BUT,that would however NOT matter IF this was NOT at the hub of an the entire presidential race--but it is---and that makes it critical.
But,IF i was Gore's strategist,i would press this Palm Beach to completion to prove i am not a wimp in the face of bully boys, and then CONCEDE,if the Palm Beach vote shows him(Gore) to be the winner, rather than have the country dragged through re-dos in New Mexico,Iowa etc---this would leave Bush as the next President, and then two years from now,the congressional elections will be a landslide against the republicans----from a Chess Game long view, this would be a brilliant strategy,(this said with my cynics "gamesmanship cap" firmly in place upon my head:)
