He has not had a manual recount...there was an automatic machine recount because the differential was so close.

Look, I am not going to change your minds and you're not going to change mine, if we post until Hell freezes over, and then even if we keep posting on the ice.

The law is very clear, a manual recount is allowed. If it weren't allowed, the Elections Commission would not be going through with the manual recount as I post.

And Paul, believe me, if I could say a prayer and convince those election officials to grant Bush a manual recount in those other counties, I would. He too is entitled to it. But of course you don't believe that because I am a partisan as you say. I guarantee you I have split my ticket far more times than the average "partisan"--Clinton Clinton Bush Reagan Reagan Carter McGovern. I am one of a handful of people who say I wish now that I had voted for Nixon rather than McGovern.(I really regret that McGovern vote because it's better to vote for a crook than a fool. At least with a crook, you have a decent chance that his objectives dovetail with yours; you have no guarantees with a fool) If you think the aforementioned endorsements are partisan, fine, that's your opinion.

In any event, this is my final post on this Florida recount issue(I hope)...any other topic, any other state's recount, fine. I will say in advance that I am all for letting Bush and Gore have manual/auto/overdrive recounts any where they see fit.

Final Distillation of this whole FL situation:

Gore wants the manual recount because he believes he can win if it is done.

Bush does not want the manual recount because he REALLY believes Gore can win if it is done. If Bush were so confident of victory, why would he object to a manual recount? Aristotle and Sartre both could not present a logical argument against the manual recount for any reason other than partisanship...but, as I said before, none of us will change our opinions on this. And that is why, no matter who wins, the likelihood is that the winner will be a one term President.

If Gore wins, his enemies will say he weaseled and whined his way in; if Bush wins, his enemies will say he stonewalled in.

Again, any other topic but this FL recount issue and I will be glad to offer positions/responses.
