The illusion is that there is a single CORRECT number that can be ascertained. Gore's people talk like this CORRECT number is what they are seeking. But they know that statistically if they recount enough one time the count will be in their favor. Then they'll stop counting.

What if Bush after for a hand recount after Gore's hand recount? This thing could drag on forever. These 2 people are not running for president, they are running for their own political gain. Shame on them!
